Surfing since teenage-hood, Leah embodies the fact that the ocean doesn’t discriminate, but embraces all humans. An Open Water Lifesaver, Leah offers surf therapy sessions, based in their Somatic Experiencing® practice. All bodies, brains & abilities welcome.

In 2019, Leah launched Slowdown Somatic’s, a surf collective centering neurodivergent people passionate about the ocean. Leah understands intimately how overwhelming the ocean can be, as well as the instinctive pull towards Sea medicine. After a decade of teaching neuro-conforming & neuro non-conforming people how to surf, Slowdown Somatic’s champions the ongoing need for ocean safety education geared towards atypical & disabled learners.

In session, we build & expand on our own “ocean safety toolbox,” a foundational resource for individualized comfort (& fun!). Be it shore study, wade, float, boogie, swim or surf, it’s all wave time!

3-day surf camps start at $90/day, in person.

*Sliding scale always available.

surfs up dudes!

“I started with the intention of really learning how to surf, not just a one-day, photo-op type of tourist lesson, even though I’m a complete beginner. Leah responded immediately to my request, & set me up with a three day surf camp. They were so professional, articulate, fun & knowledgeable. What made the biggest difference for me is that Leah taught me the tools & safety procedures, so that I was able to begin to surf on my own after 3 days. No other instructor has ever even taught me those things! It was so empowering & fun. I cannot recommend Leah enough as an instructor & am hoping to take more lessons very soon!” — Jess, Ontario
